On Laptops

Seems as though Dad has tasked me to find out which of the thousand laptops on the market is worth buying. I hate asking for help from you all, but... anyone know anything about these confusing creatures?

He's looking for a lightweight, normal sized model with decent battery life.

In fact, he had his heart set on the VIAO 670B/P until he realized it was a little too tiny to do much work on.

So, can anyone with some info hook me up? I'll totally owe you!

The 15" Mac Powerbook rocks! Seriously. I'm using the 12" now, but I used to have the 15. It's awesome, and it isn't susceptible to the windows virus scams.

I third the Mac Powerbook.
Ran into a guy while waiting out flight delays at JFK, he had the 17", got great battery life out of it. His was all decked out he said it was the first laptop he ever got that he could do all of his work (as a web designer and computer animation) that he could do on his office desktop computers.

Plus the new Mighty Mouse is a lot of fun to play with....not that I got to the Apple store to play with all the gizmos or anything....that would just be weird.

Try looking over these reviews to see which model has what he wants...

Stay away from MACs. They'll give you a case of the "rotten cock". I prefer Dell. Take a look at the Dell XPS M140. It's got everything you need and it is thin and lightweight. Battery life is 2 hours+. They also have a 3 year warranty. MACs look good but they cost way too much and the software for them is very expensive as well.
